Zhen Gao Associate professor

Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology

Gao Zhen is an associate professor at Southern University of Science and Technology. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in engineering from Zhejiang University in 2009 and 2012, respectively, and his Doctor’s degree in Physics and Applied Physics from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in 2018. In April 2021, he joined Southern University of Science and Technology as an associate professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

His research interests include electromagnetic field theory and application, photonic crystals, artificial surface plasmons, ultramaterials, topological optics/acoustics/circuits, terahertz optics, etc. He has published more than 30 academic papers in Nature, Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, Advanced Materials and other journals as the first author and corresponding author, with more than 2,200 citations in total. The h-index was 20, and three papers were selected as ESI highly cited papers. Relevant research results have been reported as highlights by domestic and foreign science and technology media for many times.

In addition, he was awarded the 2020 National Specially Invited Young Expert, 2016 China National Outstanding Self-Funded Student Award, 2019 China Top Ten Progress in Optics, Shenzhen National Leading Talent and other honors.
